Mastery Through Accomplishment: A meme against Diverting

April 18, 2008

If what you’re working for really matters, you’ll give it all you’ve got. –Nido Qubein

Okay…My thought on this Diverting behavior about accomplishing goals and a few folks saying they think that supporting each other would be useful…? I think it calls for a meme. I’m going to call this Mastery Through Accomplishment on my category list. No formality to it. The only committment to this that I feel called to make at the moment is to write something or find something to inspire me each week at least once. But I might publish something three or four times a week in this category. Those who want to do this for their own support and sustenance, can, those who don’t, please know you are welcomed to cruise around and add all the ‘Atta boy’s’ and ‘Atta girl’s’ you care to. Now if you want to get some cruisers for pats on the back, then link up here.

This is the third of these posts here on this topic. The first two are here, and here.

The quote above it the latest thing I’ve found that feels inspiring to me on this topic. I like it.

Candle Moment: My Original Post

October 1, 2007

Here’s an excerpt from the original post on Defining Spiritual Presence. It was dated 2/7/07 and this quote is from my friend Ana’s blog and is what inspired the first Moment meme to begin with:

so… bush is threatening Iran…I actually don’t think he’ll attack them directly…missiles from Israel are much more likely….

but you see, Iran is not some artificially created grouping of warring sects like Iraq….Iranians are a very proud people, a culture which does not define itself as being Arabic…they are Persians…with a long and glorious history…

and, probably unknown to many Americans, the Iranian state is an up and coming world player…china is expected to invest over 100 billion dollars there in the next 10 years….

Iran has the second largest oil reserves, the second largest natural gas reserves in the world…

if Russia [the largest natural gas reserves in the world] makes an OPEC-like contract with Iran….they will control half the worlds known gas reserves….

which gives them twice the leverage Saudi Arabia has over oil production…

China, Russia, and much of Europe have considerable economic plans for Iran…

thus…Putin’s recent scathing remarks concerning US intentions internationally…..

thus…Chiracs remarks concerning Iran’s ‘atomic future’…

thus…an unprecedented attack on Bush by the Chinese leadership, in print…saying, ‘ the more [the Americans] oppose terrorism, the more terror they produce’…

thus…the German indictment of 13 CIA officials for kidnapping…

and thus…the warrants issued in Italy for 25 members of the CIA, also for kidnapping…

you see, the rest of the world is so fed up with the US pretending that it has the right to do whatever the f**k it wants….that we are now facing a situation where China, Russia, Europe, even India [who has plans for a pipeline to Iran]…are seriously considering what a world without US interference might be like…

and I think they are salivating….

China, by itself could cripple our economy….combined with the support of the others, its a whole new ball game…

even though it would hurt all of them economically to sanction this country….i suspect they think it might be worth it in the long run…

if that happens, the average American will suddenly be looking at a distinctly different reality than they’ve ever imagined or experienced…

and all just because we cant seem to grow enough ‘balls’ to face down a bunch of crooks….

but then that means we’d have to look at our own complacency… and maybe even our willingness to led by an obvious figurehead, who is no more intelligent than any 10 randomly chosen people who live in your neighborhood…

this country is being run by criminals…who are so self assured that we are mesmerized by their display of power…

and we Americans luuuuuvvvv displays of power…its right up there with our love of violence…

ya know, there’s a reason why the US has the highest murder rate, the biggest prison population, the biggest ‘defense’ budget…of the ‘advanced’ countries…

I’m now tempted to write something really nasty…but I’m sure Ive said quite enough…

Ana

May those in need receive help, health, wisdom and strength…may the people come together to work harmony in these global situations…

Candle Moment: What’s a Candle Moment?

October 1, 2007

This is a regular series here at Little Seeds. It is a meme, meaning each week, I encourage others to participate either here in comments or on their own websites.

***************************************************************************************

Here’s the meme rules:

  • Use the button displayed here on your meme posts.
  • Practice link love. Put a link to my current week’s post in your new post and leave a link here to your latest post in the comments section.
  • Put a copy of the rules or a link to these rules in each of your meme posts.
  • Please label and write your post on one of these four topics:
    • Wisdom Fire: This is the stuff you embody or are trying to embody. The stuff that spreads light into the world…the stuff that when you share it, makes others think and feel more deeply.
    • Sangha:Any topic relating to creating community or sustaining community; especially conflict resolution and peace studies.
    • Healing Journey: I’m not talking wise woman stuff….techniques and all that. By healing, I mean, your experience of it. I want to hear about where your healing journey is taking you. I want to hear about the trials and triumphs of your journey…your gratitude about it….and where you’ve sought and found help.
    • A Healing Circle: As in, people can put names in for receiving healing from you….and you actually send it. If this is what you’ll do, please DO NOT pray for specific outcomes. We cannot know what people actually need. Sometimes healing is letting go, loss or even death. Just send the energy and let outcomes unfold through their natural course…trusting to Universal Love and the wisdom of the highest self involved. This is not an excuse to drum business for your healing services! This is free distance healing only please. If you don’t want to share healing for free, then this meme is not the right forum for you! I’ll require you to take all references and buttons down that refer to this meme if I see any business being done regarding this meme! The purpose of a healing circle is to promote wholeness for the world and to support healthy sangha. In that spirit, I hope to see wonderful things happen from this meme!

A bit of history on this meme…

I started this series on my blog former Defining Spiritual Presence, hosted on Blogger. The first post went up on 2/17/07. I did the post on our troops in Iran and Iraq, asking for healing to be sent to troops and my entry that week was inspired by a post written by my friend Ana who wrote an illuminating political commentary a few days before that touched me deeply.

I decided that I would not import all those posts from Defining. I decided to consider them answered prayers…a beautiful part of the wake as the boat passes. In this moment…I sink roots deeply into the now and into the future…the roots of prayers answered, the faith this experience of manifestation spawns and the hope that floats gently inside each person who reads this and who I hope will think…ah…The power of prayer is here and its sprouting little seeds, broadcasting them into the garden…

May we create more answered prayers with this meme.

What is Wisewoman?

September 29, 2007

263603453_986ed036ec_m.jpgWisewoman is the name of a post series about stuff I do to keep myself and my family healthy. I am not a professional herbalist, nor do I have any medical training. I am simply sharing what works for me and those I love.

These are posts full of common sense and personal experiences. If you choose to try anything I share about here, you do so using your own judgement about what’s right for you. I have no responsibility for your actions. Try at your own risk!

Some of these remedies, I learned in books written by professional herbologists and herbalists such as Susan Weed and Corinne Martin. I live in a state where such knowledge of how to care for your own health with plant medicines and simple remedies and nutrition is common knowledge. Maine has sprouted well known companies such as Avena Botanicals, a highly respected business that sells tinctures, salves and other remedies; as well as certifying other herbalists to practice in our state.

As well, my family were never wealthy people. We took care of ourselves with practical rootsdown sort of knowledge handed down in our family. Its normal in my family to drink peppermint tea if we feel sick to the stomach and to put a tea bag on a cyst or to eat a banana if your food is tending to run right through. We just know that bananas are a bit binding. We don’t go running to the pharmacy for every little thing. We either grow or gather the resources for making many of our own medicines. We use what we can get from a store frugally and with savvy. Stuff from the pharmacy is frequently good stuff, but its also usually overkill.

In our family, it is common knowledge that blue fruits and vegetables are good for weak kidneys and that drinking cranberry juice comes first if you feel a little trouble in the urinary tract…not running to the doc for an antibiotic.

In my state, doctors consider natural remedies to be a better course, that pharmaceuticals, if they are sure that the plant remedies are effective, safe and user friendly. I frequently am asked if I’ve tried blue fruits and cranberry juice before I get a script for anything for my kidneys.

So what I share here is simply normal to me. Its what I do. If you decide to do it to, then take responsibility for it…

What’s Pickalily?

September 28, 2007

lillies.jpgIt’s just a handy name that I borrowed from a store I know of here in Maine. I like it’s randomness that brings an image to mind of seeing a bucket of beautiful flowers and picking the one that appeals to you to bring home and enjoy…or gift to a friend.

Pickalily describes my impulse to have a little corner in my blog to share my whimsy….but mostly with the purpose of drawing out of myself the wisdom that hides in the shrubby places in my heart and mind. I toss stuff in there sometimes and I don’t remember where I put it…not even noticing that its grown up and born a little fruit. I think we all go about our lives not realizing the depth we’ve gathered to ourselves until something draws it out of us.

I just wish to engage this facet of my nature mindfully here. This is a meditation practice for me. I hope you’ll enjoy the journey with me.
